Merry Christmas!!

On Christmas Eve we went to Jeff and Andrea's house and had dinner and then we put on our Christmas pageant. This is Mary and Joseph on their way to Bethlehem on the donkey, who was singing "I have traveled far..." It was really funny-not so much the spiritual that some had hoped for.

These are the shepherd's on their way to see the baby Jesus.

After the story, Santa came to drop off some new pj's for the kids. Some of the kids were REALLY excited....

but Tyler didn't care at all!!

He was really excited about his silly putty that he got from Santa the next morning though. Tyler also got some clothes from both grandmas and some shoes from cousins Ethan and Adam and some books from mom and dad.

We had a great Christmas and we hope the rest of you did too!! Mike and I got our new house for Christmas!! We signed papers on Thursday the 20th and we will move in this weekend, Dec 29th. We are SUPER excited and can't wait to see what we have stored away in all our boxes. It will be like opening presents because we haven't seen the stuff for 3 years!!

New hair styles

Tyler's hair was getting a little out of control so we thought we would try a new hair style on him. I think he looks pretty cute, I just wish it would stay this way after we styled it.

We tried this style out too. Doesn't he look so handsome!! He doesn't seem too thrilled about either style though!

In the end we decided to stick with the short buzz because his hair is a little "unruly" as the doctor said. And he is still handsome!!

Tyler update

Yesterday was kind of like ground hogs day for the Tilton family. We took Tyler to the doctor hoping to get his cast off. The nurse came in and checked him over, then sent him for an x-ray. Then the doctor came in and checked him over and looked at the x-ray and ran back in the hole-4 more weeks of Tyler in the cast!!

We were NOT excited for the news, but I guess we would rather him be in the cast longer then take it off and have things go back to the way they were. So when we come to the Christmas party don't be too alarmed to see Tyler in the spread eagle. It is now a race to see which will happen first, Tyler getting out of his cast, or us getting into our new house. We will let you know who wins!!

New Recipe!!

I tried this new recipe tonight and it is REALLY good so I thought I would share it with all of you. I found it in my Rachael Ray magazine (Sept 2007, pg 101). This is a really simple meal and it only takes about 30 minutes to make. That is my kind of meal!!

Harvest Creamy Corn Choup
4 servings

2 Tbsp EVOO (for those of you who may not know that is extra-virgin olive oil)
4 slices bacon, chopped
1 onion, chopped
1/2 red bell pepper, seeded and chopped
1 pound small potatoes, cut into small chunks
4 to 5 large ears corn, kernels scrapped from the cobs, or one 10 oz box frozen corn
1 medium or 2 small zucchini, finely chopped
5 to 6 sprigs thyme (leave on stems, they cook off then remove the stem before serving)
1 bay leaf (remove before serving)
1 teaspoon paprika
3 Tablespoons flour
one 32 oz container (4cups) chicken broth
1 cup milk
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup chopped flat leaf parsley
Salt and pepper
Hot pepper sauce
Oyster crackers or popcorn, to pass around the table

1. In a medium soup pot, heat the EVOO, 2 turns of the pan, over medium-high heat. Add the bacon and cook until crisp at the edges. Add the onion and bell pepper and cook until softened, about 4 minutes. Add the potatoes, corn, zucchini, thyme, bay leaf, and paprika and cook for 4 minutes. Sprinkle the flour into the pot, stir and cook for 1 minute. Gradually stir in broth and simmer until thickened a bit. Stir in the milk, cream and parsley and simmer until the potatoes are tender, about 8 minutes.

2. Season the corn choup to taste with salt, pepper and hot pepper sauce and serve with crackers or popcorn to float on top.

This is a great meal and it was a hit with everyone in this household. It is great for the cooling weather too!! Give it a try and let me know what you think!!
