Tyler's SEVEN!!!

Tyler turned SEVEN on memorial day. It is hard for me to believe that he is seven already!! We had a fun Fiesta (meaning we ate tacos for lunch!) and water fight with family.
Tyler loves to read the books about "Skippyjon Jones". If you haven't read them they are REALLY cute. They are about a Siamese cat that thinks he is a chihuahua and the adventures he has in Mexico.
Here is the birthday boy!!
Mike with his water rocket. We usually just get water guns for the kids but I saw these at the dollar store and couldn't resist! They were a huge hit!!
Ethan, Kaitlin, Breanna and Rachel in the water fight.

Tyler and Mike. Mike was SOAKING wet from the water fight. I think he enjoys it as much, if not more then the kids!!
Breanna squirting her water cannon and getting hit.

We had a pinata of "Alfredo Buzzito, the Bumblebeeto Bandito"! You have to read the book!!
Sadie was not real sure about the pinata, but she took a turn at "attacking" it too.

Calista trying to hit the pinata

Tyler with his Skippyjon Jones cake

All the kiddos at the party. We had a great time celebrating with Tyler!! I got a little tired and probably would have done more with the party if I wasn't eight months pregnant but I think everyone had a good time!!

Tyler

On March 22 I went down to Tyler's school for the morning. It was a lot of fun! I got to see what they do for therapy and what other fun activities they do there. I also got to read books with him for a little while. It was great fun to see him at school and how the teachers and therapists interact with him. He enjoys school SO much and I can see why, they are great down there!!
And look at that belly!! It is really starting to pop out there now!!
Also in March it was such a nice day one Saturday and Mike was out working so Tyler and I decided to go for a walk. This is Tyler all set to go with the new hat that grandma Linda bought him when we were in St George. We had a good time and it was nice to get out in the fresh air and enjoy a walk around the park near our house.

Roses

I often give Mike a hard time about never buying me flowers. What girl doesn't want flowers once-in-a-while!?! So he has decided to plant a rose garden on the side of our house. One of them shot out this beautiful blossom Tuesday.
I am not sure it counts as getting me flowers, but I think it is really pretty!! And it smells great!

Sewing projects

I have been working on a few sewing projects, trying to get things ready for the new baby to come. Here is a quilt that I made.

And here are the bumper pads that I made. This project was a PAIN in my backside!! I thought it would be relatively simple. All I was doing was making a slip cover to go over bumper pads from when Tyler was a baby. Well my measurements turned out to be wrong THREE times, it must be the pregnancy messing with my math abilities or something! I had to unpick these three times. I decided to put it together one square at a time so I would get it right. Then I got sick of them and put them away for about three weeks. I got them out again this week and FINALLY finished them on Tuesday. I am SOOO glad that it is done and I think they turned out really cute!! They look great in the room!!

The crib from the inside.
We are getting closer to having things ready although I am not sure we will ever be totally ready for the new addition to our family!

Lemon Chicken W/ Asparagus

I tried a new recipe awhile back that I wanted to share because it was SUPER tasty!!!

"The Kitchen Diva's Lemon Chicken With Asparagus"

4 (4oz) skinless, boneless chicken breasts
1 TBSP Olive oil
1 TBSP poultry seasoning
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
4 garlic gloves, chopped
1 red bell pepper, stem removed, seeded and diced
1/2 lb asparagus, cut into 1-in pieces
1 tsp lemon zest
1/2 cup low sodium chicken stock or water
2 cups cooked brown rice or whole wheat couscous

Directions

Prepare rice/couscous per package directions

Rinse chicken under cold water. Pat dry with food safe paper towels. Season chicken with poultry seasoning, salt and pepper.

In a large non-stick skillet, heat the oil over medium high heat. Add chicken. Cook about 5 minutes. Turn chicken over and cook another 5 minutes or until golden brown. Move chicken to sides of pan and stir in garlic and red pepper. Add asparagus and cook 1 minute. Stir in zest and chicken stock or water and turn heat to low. Cover and cook for 3-5 minutes. Serve immediately over rice or couscous.

I got this recipe off the Dr Oz web site. Hope you enjoy!! Let me know what you think!

BABY!!!

As I mentioned before I am pregnant and the baby is due July 4th. It has been a pretty good pregnancy and I feel great right now! I am past the morning sickness, but not quite to the really uncomfortable part, yet!
This is the baby's first picture taken Dec 21, 2009. Looks like another happy little one!!
This is a profile picture taken Feb 8 2010
A picture of the little hands! Here is a funny story about the hands! When the tech was there she got this picture and said he was holding his hands like a boxer. I said he had definitely been practicing that boxing on my bladder!! When the dr came in he only found one hand up by the baby's face and when he found the other hand it was down by the baby's bottom, he said scratching his bum. I said "OH, he is like his dad!!" I thought it was funny, as did Mike, but the dr thought it was too much information and moved on quickly!

Here are his cute little feet!
And finally proof that it is a boy. He was NOT shy as you can tell!! Now we just need to think of a name!

Update

So it's been awhile again!! We are doing well here in Henderson!! We are enjoying the Spring time weather although Tyler's allergies are really getting to him, poor boy!! Mike is really busy with work, which is good!! We got our garden planted a couple weeks ago. I am REALLY hoping for a better harvest then we had last year!!
I have been trying to get things ready for the baby! We got the crib set up and the dresser moved so I have room for Tyler's clothes and the baby's clothes. I got a quilt made for the new little guy and I am working on bumper pads. Well, I WAS working on bumper pads and I got very irritated because I couldn't get the measurements to workout so I have taken a break for a few days but I am sure I will feel like working on them again soon. Here is a picture of the quilt.
This is Tyler's First grade picture taken at the beginning of the school year. It is hard for me to believe that he is almost seven!! He is doing really well!! We have been able to keep him healthy so far and I think we are pretty much out of the woods! I just need to try to get his allergies under control!
Tyler was chosen as student of the quarter at his school. This is a picture of a plaque that they gave him. That is his teacher with him. His school is amazing with him!! Everyone loves him and they make sure he is taken care of. He even has a "grandma" there that takes EXTRA good care of him!! I have been going down to the school one or two times a week for a month or so and it is fun to see what they do there and how Tyler reacts to the teachers, aids, therapists and other students!
This is a video of Tyler laughing. He thought something was really funny this day!! This was about the third time he just started laughing and I was finally able to get it on video. After I took this video I noticed he smelt a little suspicious and I checked his diaper and he had messed his pants, so I guess that is what was so funny!! Although I did NOT find it funny!!
