Merry Christmas!!

On Christmas Eve we went to Jeff and Andrea's house and had dinner and then we put on our Christmas pageant. This is Mary and Joseph on their way to Bethlehem on the donkey, who was singing "I have traveled far..." It was really funny-not so much the spiritual that some had hoped for.

These are the shepherd's on their way to see the baby Jesus.

After the story, Santa came to drop off some new pj's for the kids. Some of the kids were REALLY excited....

but Tyler didn't care at all!!

He was really excited about his silly putty that he got from Santa the next morning though. Tyler also got some clothes from both grandmas and some shoes from cousins Ethan and Adam and some books from mom and dad.

We had a great Christmas and we hope the rest of you did too!! Mike and I got our new house for Christmas!! We signed papers on Thursday the 20th and we will move in this weekend, Dec 29th. We are SUPER excited and can't wait to see what we have stored away in all our boxes. It will be like opening presents because we haven't seen the stuff for 3 years!!

New hair styles

Tyler's hair was getting a little out of control so we thought we would try a new hair style on him. I think he looks pretty cute, I just wish it would stay this way after we styled it.

We tried this style out too. Doesn't he look so handsome!! He doesn't seem too thrilled about either style though!

In the end we decided to stick with the short buzz because his hair is a little "unruly" as the doctor said. And he is still handsome!!

Tyler update

Yesterday was kind of like ground hogs day for the Tilton family. We took Tyler to the doctor hoping to get his cast off. The nurse came in and checked him over, then sent him for an x-ray. Then the doctor came in and checked him over and looked at the x-ray and ran back in the hole-4 more weeks of Tyler in the cast!!

We were NOT excited for the news, but I guess we would rather him be in the cast longer then take it off and have things go back to the way they were. So when we come to the Christmas party don't be too alarmed to see Tyler in the spread eagle. It is now a race to see which will happen first, Tyler getting out of his cast, or us getting into our new house. We will let you know who wins!!

New Recipe!!

I tried this new recipe tonight and it is REALLY good so I thought I would share it with all of you. I found it in my Rachael Ray magazine (Sept 2007, pg 101). This is a really simple meal and it only takes about 30 minutes to make. That is my kind of meal!!

Harvest Creamy Corn Choup
4 servings

2 Tbsp EVOO (for those of you who may not know that is extra-virgin olive oil)
4 slices bacon, chopped
1 onion, chopped
1/2 red bell pepper, seeded and chopped
1 pound small potatoes, cut into small chunks
4 to 5 large ears corn, kernels scrapped from the cobs, or one 10 oz box frozen corn
1 medium or 2 small zucchini, finely chopped
5 to 6 sprigs thyme (leave on stems, they cook off then remove the stem before serving)
1 bay leaf (remove before serving)
1 teaspoon paprika
3 Tablespoons flour
one 32 oz container (4cups) chicken broth
1 cup milk
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup chopped flat leaf parsley
Salt and pepper
Hot pepper sauce
Oyster crackers or popcorn, to pass around the table

1. In a medium soup pot, heat the EVOO, 2 turns of the pan, over medium-high heat. Add the bacon and cook until crisp at the edges. Add the onion and bell pepper and cook until softened, about 4 minutes. Add the potatoes, corn, zucchini, thyme, bay leaf, and paprika and cook for 4 minutes. Sprinkle the flour into the pot, stir and cook for 1 minute. Gradually stir in broth and simmer until thickened a bit. Stir in the milk, cream and parsley and simmer until the potatoes are tender, about 8 minutes.

2. Season the corn choup to taste with salt, pepper and hot pepper sauce and serve with crackers or popcorn to float on top.

This is a great meal and it was a hit with everyone in this household. It is great for the cooling weather too!! Give it a try and let me know what you think!!

My new hair cut

I decided to get a new hair cut on Wednesday. I was sick of my hair and not being able to do anything with it so here is my new dew. I really like it. It is a lot lighter on my head and I don't get headaches as much. I meant to take a before picture so you could see the difference, but I forgot, but the lady took about 6 inches off. The pile of hair was huge!!

Being Tagged

The rules of the game should be posted at the beginning of the post. Each player lists 6 facts/habits about themselves. At the end of the post, the player then tags 6 people and posts their names, then goes to their blogs and leaves them a comment, letting them know that they have been tagged and asking them to read your blog.

1. I am a mother of a VERY special little boy. Tyler is doing great after his surgery and will hopefully get out of his cast in about 3 weeks. I think he is missing school, and I am missing him going to school so I can have a little break. I love being at home with him, but it is nice to be able to run some errands while he is at school. I hope to have more children in the near future, but we will see what happens.

2. I live in Henderson, Nevada and I actually like it. I never thought I would like it here, but it is actually nice. I love being near family and the weather this time of year (fall) is awesome!! I love the church here. The members are great and have really strong testimonies, and that helps my testimony.

3. I am married to a great man. He is a hard worker and a great father and friend. His business is doing great and it is growing every month. Sometimes I wish he would start working before noon so he could get home earlier, but he gets his work done so I guess I shouldn't complain.

4. I recently got my hair cut and I love it!! I will post pictures soon. It was getting long and it drove me crazy so I decided to go for it and get it chopped. The lady cut about 6 inches off.

5. I love to try new recipes! Especially Rachael Ray recipes. They are really simple and most of them only take 30 minutes. If you have not tried any of her recipes I think you should. Some of my favorites are her Cowboy spaghetti, Ultimate Spaghetti and meat balls, Firecracker Enchiladas. I can get you the recipes if you would like.

6. I like to scrapbook and quilt, but I haven't had the time to do any lately. We should be getting into our house in the next week or so and I hope to have more time to do these fun things then. In my own house I won't feel bad about leaving everything out so I can work on it again the next day.

I tag Linda (and you better participate!!), Debbie, Kistena, Tannielle, Marcie, and Lisa.

Tyler

Tyler is finally starting to feel better after his surgery. He was doing well after the first two weeks but then he started fussing every time we would move him. Last Monday when I changed his diaper I noticed some funny spots at the top of his diaper so I went looking for the culprit. I found two pressure sores inside his cast. They looked REALLY bad!! Monday night after the doctor did not call me back we decided that we needed to do something so we cut his cast away from them and put bandages on them. Tuesday evening the doctor finally called me and we got in to see him on Wednesday morning. He gave us some medicated pads to put on the sores to help them heal and sent us on our way. Since we have cut the cast away form them and put the medicated pads on them, they are doing a ton better! Tyler is getting back to himself again too. We caught these smiles yesterday morning when we were getting ready for church.
